With this plugin you can utilize the Mailchimp API for newsletter subscriptions.
The key advantage of using Mailchimp to handle sending your store newsletter is you are not subjected to hourly email throttling that most hosting companies have in place.
Email addresses get subscribed / deleted at Mailchimp for the following:
- newsletter box
- newsletter page (index.php?_a=newsletter)
- newsletter unsubscribe page (index.php?_a=unsubscribe)
- newsletter unsubscribe page url (index.php?_a=unsubscribe&unsubscribe=test@test.com)
- standard registration (register.html)
- checkout registration (index.php?_a=checkout)
- admin mailing list page (admin.php?_g=customers&node=subscribers)
- admin add/edit customer page (admin.php?_g=customers&action=add)
The mailing list built into the store still gets used as per normal.
When adding to the Mailchimp list:
- email address is used
- first name is used (if applicable)
- last name is used (if applicable)
This also applies when importing to Mailchimp or exporting to CSV.
On the plugin configuration page you can:
- set the Mailchimp API key
- select the Mailchimp list to use
- import your existing newsletter subscribers into Mailchimp
- export your existing newsletter subscribers to a CSV file
You will need a Mailchimp account, API key and at least one list to use this plugin.
Purchase includes license, installation, configuration, setup of a MailChimp account, and 90 days email support on the plugin.
